Bright Minds Processing is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the understanding and acceptance of learning disabilities.Our mission is to educate as many parents about children with APD and VPD. Together we can lobby schools to implement solutions. Our collaboration of professionals will empower parents and families so they can work with us to implement our APD and VPD programs into their schools.

Dr. Leah Light

Advisory Board Member

Dr. Leah Light is founder and director of the Brainchild Institute in Doral, FL. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education and her Master of Science and clinical doctorate (Au.D.) degrees in Audiology. Dr. Light is a member and certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and the American Academy of Audiology (AAA). For the past 30 years, Dr. Light's focus has been on neurodevelopment and neuroplasticity. She specializes in the evaluation and remediation of Auditory Processing Disorders (APD). In addition, Dr. Light is a certified Core Specialist in the Masgutova Method (MNRI), a program for addressing retained primary reflexes, which are often at the root of communicative disorders and learning disabilities. Dr. Light’s mission is to improve listening, attention, and learning skills in children of all ages by addressing the whole child using an integrative audiology approach.

Dr. Rachel Cohen

Dr. Rachel Cohen, AuD., CCC-A., Cert. LSLS AVEd. is the owner of ListenHEAR. An audiology practice located in Southwest Florida that specializes in Auditory Processing Disorders. Dr. Cohen both evaluates and treats APD with therapy either in person or via telehealth. Dr. Cohen received her Doctorate of Audiology degree from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. in 2005. She is an experienced Pediatric Educational Audiologist with a specialty in Auditory Processing Disorders and an Auditory Verbal Therapist (LSLS). She also contracts with school districts by providing APD therapy services and evaluations to the Florida region. As a specialist in Auditory Processing Disorders, she provides an individualized approach based on the evaluation results. She utilizes Buffalo Model Therapy, ARIA therapy, and specialized apps and programs to support processing.

Dr. Brandi Rials

Dr. Brandi Rials is a Florida Licensed Psychologist, co-owner of Palm Beach Behavioral Health and Wellness, and Clinical Director of its psychology training programs. With expertise in ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, eating challenges, and learning differences in children and adolescents, she offers individualized therapy, family support, and comprehensive evaluations. Dr. Rials also provides professional consultations, community trainings, and APA continuing education presentations. She embraces a holistic, integrative approach, addressing emotional, social, academic, nutritional, and physical health to support each client’s growth and well-being. Her background includes work with children in competitive schools, elite sports, and social services. Dr. Rials holds degrees from the University of Cincinnati and the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and is also certified in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University. She is known for building compassionate, personalized therapeutic alliances that empower clients to thrive.

Dr. Eric Chow

Dr. Man Kin (Eric) Chow, OD, FAAO, FCOVD is a graduate of SUNY College of Optometry and completed his residency in pediatrics and binocular vision from NOVA Southeastern College of Optometry. Dr. Chow is certified by the American Academy of Optometry and the College of Vision Development. He is the president-elect of the Miami Dade Optometric Physicians Association. He is passionate about spreading awareness of binocular vision issues and visual processing disorders which are often overlooked in children struggling in school.

Tanya Hallman

With over 20 years of experience, Tanya is an Occupational Therapist driven by a deep passion for helping others heal. Her journey began in outpatient pediatrics, but a fascination with the Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) method led her to become a Core Specialist, blending it with Yoga and Pilates to create a holistic approach. She has worked across the U.S. and internationally, bringing care directly into homes and communities. Dedicated to making a difference, she also contributed to PTSD research, helping organize a conference for Veterans and First Responders in Washington, D.C. Tanya holds a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

Carolyn Mee

Advisory Board Member

Carolyn Mee is the CEO and founder of Sound Scouts, a pioneering digital health company revolutionizing access to hearing screening. Driven by a passion for early detection, she collaborated with the National Acoustic Laboratories to create Sound Scouts, which has since enabled over 200,000 hearing checks, particularly benefiting children in rural and remote areas. Under her leadership, Sound Scouts secured a multi-year partnership with the Australian Department of Health, making hearing screening freely available to schoolchildren. Carolyn’s innovation has earned numerous accolades, including the 2020 Women in Digital Innovator of the Year Award and the 2019 Digital Health Award. While the awards are an honor, for Carolyn, the real reward is changing lives by ensuring no child’s potential is limited by undetected hearing loss.

Dr. Paul Rousseau

Dr. Rousseau, OD, FCOVD graduated as the Valedictorian of his class at the Southern California College of Optometry in 1992. He specifically pursued his training at this college because of its reputation for excellence in training doctors in treating disorders of eye tracking, two-eyed teaming, visual perception, and dyslexia. Dr. Rousseau is in private practice in Viera, FL. His practice is exclusively devoted to preventative vision care and the diagnosis and treatment of vision disorders in eye tracking, two-eyed teaming, visual perception, and dyslexia. He has dedicated his life’s work to helping children and adults overcome these too often “hidden” vision problems so that they may lead happier and more productive lives through achievement and enjoyment in reading.

Dr. Christine Nearchou

Advisory Board Member

Christine is a dedicated optometrist and Professor at the University of Melbourne, specializing in binocular vision and paediatrics within the Department of Optometry and Vision Sciences. She established and managed the paediatric optometric services at the Melbourne Eyecare Clinic, a teaching facility for Doctor of Optometry students. With Fellowships in prominent optometric colleges and statutory appointments with AHPRA, Christine is a leader in professional standards and an advisor for the Better Start program for children with special needs. She co-founded a paediatric-focused optometric practice, has pioneered outreach eye care programs in disadvantaged regions, and invented Vis-CAT, a digital tool for assessing visual cognition in children. Passionate about enhancing children’s vision to improve their learning and development, Christine's contributions include research, education, and international presentations to advance paediatric eye health.
